SAS STUDENTS´CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SCHOOL
OVERNIGHT TRIPS
Objective:
Policies are developed to help students make responsible and appropriate
choices for the safety and wellness of the individual as well as the entire
travel group.
The following are some of the general policies.
STUDENT
BEHAVIOR
While on an overnight trip, the following rules shall apply to student
behavior:
General:
A.- Students will follow
all school rules and regulations.
B.- Students are to behave
in a manner which reflects in a positive manner on their family, school and the
community as a whole.
C.- Students shall not
engage in profanity, abusive language, obscene gestures, or other indecent
expressions. In addition, cheating, deceit, fighting, theft of any kind and any
degree is forbidden.
D.- Students shall neither
use nor possess alcohol, tobacco, any controlled substance, or weapon.
E.- Students shall follow
and abide by all instructions or rules of transportation, housing, and
chaperones.
F.- Students shall dress
appropriately for student trip activities. If a student is in doubt as to
appropriate attire, the student or his/her parent(s) shall seek advice from the
trip chaperon.
G.- Electronic
devices/cell phones can be used during times designated by the chaperones.
However, students will remove their headphones when trip leader, tour guide or
chaperon is speaking.
Hotel:
A.- No student shall have an
unauthorized visitor, without the advance approval of chaperone.
B.- Standard curfew time
for all trips is 10:00 p.m. Students shall follow all curfew rules and be in
their assigned rooms at curfew. No student is to leave the hotel/lodging after
curfew.
C.- Students shall not
allow other participants into their room at any time without prior permission.
D.- Maliciously damaging
property or any other disruptive behavior in the hotel/lodging rooms or
corridor will not be permitted.
F.- No student shall be
allowed to remain at the hotel/lodging in the evening while the rest of the
student group is absent without a chaperone remaining with the student.
Transportation:
A.- The student shall remain in his/her seat while the bus or aircraft
is in transit and until the sponsor or chaperone gives further instructions. It is law in Europe to wear a seat belt on a bus tour.
B.- Students shall keep hands, arms and all items inside the bus.
C.- The students are responsible for their belongings.
Activities:
A.- Students shall attend
all scheduled activities, events, and meetings with respect to the trip.
B.- Students shall use the
¨buddy system¨ while on the trip and shall not go anywhere alone.
Consequences:
Once again, students are expected to follow school rules at all times.
Consequences will be based on the severity of the infraction and may
include:
A.- Warning from the
chaperone.
B.- Exclusion from the
activity and/or competition
C.- School detention
D.- In school suspension
E.- Out of school
suspension
F.- Restriction of future
school related travel or trips.
G.- For serious
infractions, parents need come to the trip and get their child back Shanghai at
their own expense.
PACKING LISTWhat to TAKE –
We are traveling for 10 days and the weather could
be warm one day and raining the next. We will also be in the mountains, which
will be colder. Advice: dress in layers
Clothes
- 1 rainproof nylon jacket /windbreaker or all weather jacket/small
umbrella
- 1 light jacket if all weather jacket is not insulated
- 1 pair light gloves
- 1 thick sweater/polar fleece/sweatshirt-the trip
sweatshirt is enough
- 1-2 pair of jeans
- 2 short sleeved shirts
- 2 long sleeved shirts
- Underwear 9 sets
- Socks 9 pairs
- Pyjamas or Sleepwear or some sort
- perhaps another pair of slacks-not jeans or nice
looking jeans
Shoes: we will be walking a lot and hiking in the
mountains
- Comfortable walking shoes
- sneakers
Toiletries
- Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Deodorant
- Make up, moisturizers and hair products
- Handkerchiefs/tissues
- Lip balm
Miscellaneous
- Travel Clock or wristwatch alarm
- Plastic bags for dirty laundry
- Aspirins/medications
- Pens and writing materials
- Reading Material (a guide book or novel)
- Tri-band mobile phone and charger(optional)
- Digital camera and extra memory cards plus charger or batteries
- Power adapter plugs (European plugs are two round pins)
and swiss adapter if need be

If the girls bring purses make sure
they zipper close and have a strap that can go over the shoulder
We recommend that you pack light and
leave room in your luggage for the souvenirs that you surely want to take home.
YOU MAY NOT BRING A LAPTOP BUT YOU CAN BRING AN IPAD, IPOD OR MP3 player. If you do bring an MP3 player you
are totally responsible for safeguarding it and you will agree to good
etiquette in using it. Please
respect the chaperones when they ask you to disconnect in order to participate
fully in trip activities.
Pack one set of clean underwear or
sleepwear and a fresh shirt in your carryon luggage in the unlikely event that
luggage arrives a day late.
Label your suitcase inside and out
with your name and your home address and we will attach colored ribbon to all
suitcases so that we can spot them easily as a group. We will do this at the
airport.
Remember to bring more than enough
of any medication you might need along with you and carry prescriptions for any
medications that you carry with you.
